We will meet at 12noon to go by coach to the demonstration at Menwith Hill.Please book a place on the coach when you register.
In the evening you will be able to register between 5pm - 9pm
Saturday May 5th
The Conference today will take place at the Rupert Beckett Lecture Theatre at Leeds University.
You can register from 9am and the conference will start at 9.30am.
The plan is as follows:
Session 1 9.30-11am.
Session 2. 11.30am-1pm
Session 3. 2-4pm
Session 4 4.30-6pm
At 6pm there will be food for all to share together.
Welcome to the Conference and panel of speakers giving us information on the current state and development of NMD in the US, the Space Based Laser, Theatre Missile Defense and the developments in Russia and in the European Space Agency. Speakers from the US, Japan, Russia, Germany and UK.
Panel of speakers giving a global roundup of responses to the US plans including representatives from Norway (Vardo), Denmark and Greenland (Thule), Australia (Pine Gap), UK, US and Japan.
Workshops including campaigning on NMD/TMD/SBL, Globalisation and coporate involvement, implementing and strengthening the Outer Space Treaty, Echelon and civil liberties, nuclearisation of space, science and ethics and space research, and political lobbying.
A panel of speakers outlining the alternatives to missile defence and taking war into space. To include the links with the elimination of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles that will lead us to a safer world, rather than leading us to a new arms race.
In the evening there will be a social featuring Lynda Williams and 'Seize the Day'
Sunday May 6th
There will be annual meetings of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space, Scientists for Global Responsibility, and a meeting of Abolition 2000 who will also be meeting on May 6-7th in Saffron Walden.
