The aim is to provide, over the weekend, time, space and opportunity for those wishing to oppose US National Missile Defence and the militarisation of space, to meet, network and learn more.We hope that further co-operation on campaigning and research will take place as a result of the weekend. We also aim to produce a body of work, as the Conference proceedings, that will allow those who attend, and those unable to attend, to access the expertise we will gather. The conference will bring academics, scientists and activists together and therefore strengthen efforts to keep space for peace Friday 4th May. There will be press conferences and demonstrations in the local area to show our opposition to NMD On Saturday 5th May. There will be a more formal conference in the centre of Leeds starting at 9am and with 4 sessions over the day. See programme On Sunday 6th May there will be the business and campaigning meeting of the Global Network. Scientists for Global Responsibility (SGR) are also intending to hold their annual meeting over the weekend, probably simultaneously with the Global Network.Scientists for Global Responsibility(UK) are a UK organisation and want to combine their AGM with the conference because the issue is of such importance.
