Fylingdales peace camp eviction latest
In response to the start of proceedings to evict the Star Peace Camp, a 6-berth trailer home was added last Friday to the tents and banners.
Today, the owners of the land on which the camp is located, obtained a Repossession Order for the land, granted by Whitby County Court.
Four of the campers and supporters, who attended the court, spoke about their concerns for the global environment from the threat of Star Wars, and their Right to freedom of expression and to assemble and demonstrate, which is enshrined in the Human Rights Act. It was acknowledged that no damage has been done to the land by the occupants.
The next 'move' is for the owners, the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, to serve Notice to Quit (before that we might go to appeal - but the outcome is inevitable).
If there is no departure in the time allowed, then the owners have to go back to court for an Enforcement Order.
If there's no response to that, then it's the Bailiffs.
Meanwhile there are other places to move...this could be a long story...
b). Tuesday's Yorkshire Evening Press printed an article, entitled 'Fylingdales Protesters Campaign to Save Footpath' The colour photo showed Sav leaning negligently against the 'Footpath Closed' notice board.
The report stated that the footpath is the historic Salt Road (that's mediaeval) which was a notorious smugglers' route and gave its name to the legendary Saltersgate Inn,.
The North York Moors National Park Authority are objecting to its closure. (But, but, the MoD says it's already closed). . They're having a meeting next Tuesday...
Alice Mahon MP sent our complaint to the Secretary of State for Defence, Geoff Hoon, on October 11th. What will he reply?
Read our next exciting installment due out next week.

Fylingdales peace camp eviction
Camp residents and supporters have received notice from North York Moors National Park Authority that either the tents and banners must be removed from the site at Ellerbeck Bottom within 28 days unless a Planning Application for continued occupation of the camp is submitted. We have been informed that it is unlikely that an application would be approved.
The Chief Planning Officer is prepared to discuss the position with us, so we are informing people in our network. This could take some considerable time.
We'd like any suggestions you can feed back to us. (e.g. submit plans for weld-mesh security fence? The Council authorised it for 'them'.)
Long live the camp and all who sail in her.
Best wishes,
Anne Lee
