President ObamaOn becoming President, Obama ordered a full review into US Missile Defence. It reported back in September 2009 and found that the threat from Iranian long range missiles was less than anticipated. It stated that the real threat was actually from short and medium range missiles. President George W. Bush's plans for a radar station in the Czech Republic and interceptor missiles in Poland were subsequently shelved.Although this news was fantastic for the Czech Republic and Poland who campaigned so hard against the plans, it is not as positive as it first appears. The Obama administration plans to widely deploy sea based interceptor missiles by 2011 and to have interceptor missiles on the ground in central and southern Europe by 2015. Countries suggested as hosts include Israel, the Balkans and Turkey.
